About the role

Assists leadership in overall financial management of the hospital. Manages staff performance and department responsibilities in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. Ensures monthly closing entries, statistics, and capital information are prepared timely and accurately. Manages the budgeting process. Coordinates all audits, including internal, external, and regulatory audits. Acts as department spokesperson on all fiscal matters and maintains contact with auditors, insurance, and Medicare officials.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates updated or new guidelines and regulations to appropriate personnel.
  • Approves, facilitates, and maintains department policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, and safety standards.
  • Prepares or directs the compilation of data and the preparation of financial and operating reports, including annual budget, third-party reimbursement, account reconciliations, audit reports, equipment, construction, and facility reports.
  • Recommends to management means of reducing hospital operating costs and increasing revenues.
  • Advises administration regarding any adverse fiscal trends and oversees annual inventory counts for various departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels of staff
  • Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Skilled in compiling and analyzing financial information for financial decision making, organizing and presenting the analysis and recommendations to management in a written or oral format
  • Ability to coordinate the development, implementation and deployment of strategic information to assist the organization’s overall performance
  • Ability to work in a project-oriented environment that is fast paced with individuals across the organization
  • Working knowledge of healthcare accounting methods and reporting, standards development, costing methodologies, utilization measurements, and financial modeling
  • Strong leadership skills to influence a team of hospital leaders to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Demonstrates professionalism in both quality of work and relationships, interpersonal skills for small and large group settings
  • Knowledge of database networks and other financial resources/software, including PeopleSoft
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proven knowledge of revenue cycle concepts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • 3+ years of applicable healthcare financial management experience, including operational involvement and/or project management preferred
  • 5+ years of hospital accounting experience required

$110,702.15 - $205,911.28
