Work hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 08:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Organize and delegate activities for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the department, collaborating with hospital and leadership staff.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of policies, procedures, and standards that direct department operations, ensuring consistency with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Actively incorporate measures to obtain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Identify and utilize processes and resources to support optimal delivery of data and information to the leadership team and staff.
  • Promote a professional image through demeanor, appearance, attitude, and behaviors.
  • Establish collegial relationships with physicians, unit personnel, and administration.
  • Integrate team-building strategies and principles of group process in interactions with staff.
  • Collaborate with all customer groups (patients, department/hospital staff, physicians, and other stakeholders) to meet and exceed needs and expectations.
  • Create and maintain a collaborative work environment for patients, physicians, and key stakeholders.
  • Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement in care and patient safety.
  • Identify key performance indicators that need to be monitored and evaluated.
  • Prepare and manage the operating and capital budgets for the department in collaboration with department management and staff.
  • Determine the appropriate number and level of staff, balancing competency, patient needs, outcomes, safety, and productivity guidelines.
  • Oversee and manage the effectiveness of the department’s recruitment and retention program to ensure an adequate level of qualified staff.
  • Promote professional growth, development, and accountability in staff, students, and colleagues.
  • Track and evaluate staff performance and individual development, holding staff accountable for achieving service expectations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management with emphasis on healthcare, including full knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements of plant operations in a healthcare environment (required with a Bachelor’s degree).
  • 9 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management with emphasis on healthcare, including full knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements of plant operations in a healthcare environment (required with a High School diploma or equivalent).
  • Driver’s License required upon hire.
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) preferred upon hire.

  • Advanced technological skills, analytical ability, and good judgment with a strong operational background in an advanced facilities management setting.
  • Team player, articulate, and able to relate to people at all levels.
  • Good educator willing to share information and skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Industry Regulations and Standards: ASHE, TJC, OSHA, TDSHS, ASHRAE, HIPAA.
