About the role

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

The Director of Facilities Planning works with the ED to set priorities, goals and objectives to manage the planning process for portfolios consisting of both minor and major projects. Works in conjunction with other Director's and Assistant Directors within FPS to provide planning support when requested to assist in FAR evaluation, scenario planning, assessment of institutional space utilization, and development of plans for programs.

Responsibilities

Oversees management teams focused on Patient Care Space and support areas. Be able to provide guidance and coordinate with planning for research and administrative areas. Provides oversight in development and review of construction documents. Coordinates with other members of facilities management to support the multidisciplinary mission of the institution and provides an efficient communication channel for coordination, and problem resolution.

Assists the ED with workload management, metrics, department policies and procedures and ensures compliance with Regulatory requirements. Responsible for assigning project teams in all phases of projects.

Manages the Project Planning and Development program which includes establishment of planning and programming methods and templates for documenting project need projections, scope of work, implementation methods, concept plans & budgets and workplans for design phases.

Ensures compliance of projects and work to Institutional Standards and Policies and Regulatory Requirements. Provides planning coordination and support for Executive level committee meetings. Will support the Institution's recruitment program through formal evaluations and recommendations.

Manages all staff including skill assessments, performance evaluations, identification of training opportunities, orientation and training on specialized topics, coaching & counseling sessions, improvement plans, and disciplinary actions when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
  • 10 years of experience in institutional facilities planning and 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience required
  • Preferred: Over 10 years of proven experience leading healthcare design, patient care planning, and research planning initiatives within complex institutional healthcare environments
  • Preferred: Licensed Architect, license transferable to the State of Texas

Pay

Minimum Salary: $185,000, Midpoint Salary: $202,000, Maximum Salary: $218,000
