Director, Evidence Generation and Publications

Freenome is seeking a Director of Evidence Generation and Publications to lead integrated evidence-generation and publication strategies across the company’s portfolio. This remote role reports to the VP of Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Evidence-generation strategy
    • Develop and execute integrated evidence plans aligned with clinical, regulatory, market-access, and commercial priorities.
    • Identify evidence gaps and translate them into readily executable research questions, study concepts, and analysis plans.
    • Lead post hoc analyses, real-world evidence and registry studies, and investigator-sponsored research.
    • Guide evidence development throughout the product lifecycle (feasibility, validation, and post-marketing studies).
    • Establish clear governance, prioritization, timelines, and measures of impact.
  • Publication and scientific-dissemination strategy
    • Develop and manage publication plans aligned with Freenome’s scientific communication strategy.
    • Oversee manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and other scientific materials.
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant dissemination of data.
    • Partner with internal authors, external investigators, medical writers, statisticians, and third-party vendors.
    • Track publication progress and scientific impact.
  • Scientific leadership and cross-functional collaboration
    • Serve as a strategic partner across Science, Scientific and Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial, and Biometrics.
    • Translate complex findings into clear and credible scientific narratives.
    • Provide guidance on study design, endpoints, analyses, interpretation, and dissemination.
    • Align internal teams on evidence priorities, scientific messaging, and publication timing.
    • Present strategies and program updates to senior leadership.
  • External research and scientific engagement
    • Represent Freenome at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and research meetings.
    • Build relationships with investigators, academic institutions, and healthcare systems.
    • Evaluate and support investigator-sponsored research.
    • Identify external partnerships that strengthen Freenome’s evidence base.
  • Governance, quality, and compliance
    • Ensure adherence to applicable company policies, publication standards, and ethical guidelines, including GPP and ICMJE.
    • Maintain high standards for scientific integrity, authorship, transparency, and data accuracy.
    • Manage vendors, research partners, contracts, budgets, timelines, and program risks.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in medicine, science, public health, epidemiology, health economics, pharmacy, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant diagnostics, medical device, or healthcare experience, ideally in oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience leading evidence generation and publication strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research, real-world evidence, epidemiology, biostatistics, and scientific data interpretation.
  • Experience authoring and supervising manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong commitment to scientific integrity and compliant collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in oncology, cancer screening, molecular diagnostics, genomics, multiomics, or liquid biopsy.
  • Experience supporting diagnostic products, including screening tests, through their development, regulatory review, launch, and/or lifecycle management.
  • Experience with real-world data, health economics, implementation science, or healthcare delivery research.
  • Established relationships with investigators, academic institutions, or professional societies.
  • Prior people-management experience.

Pay

The US target range of the base salary for this role is $214,625 - $305,550. You will also be eligible to receive equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
