Principal Duties and Accountabilities
- Provide managerial guidance to Regional Managers of Estimating and/or Chief Estimator(s).
- Chair the Estimating steering committee as needed.
- Support executive leadership and administrative functions related to the Estimating department.
- Evaluate, implement and maintain estimating software, tools, and technology.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for the estimating across the USEC system.
- Provide strategic insights to leadership regarding market conditions, competitor activity, and project pursuit decisions.
- Collaborate with Directors of Preconstruction to maintain comprehensive cost history database (Vector) for future benchmarking.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating speed, accuracy, quality, and win rate.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
- Set policies for software platforms and configurations in alignment with industry standards.
- Create and assign developmental projects for estimating teams across the Construction group.
- Maintain oversight of overall workload, output quality, and performance of regional estimating operations.
- In partnership with the Vice Presidents of Project Development, the Director of Information Technology, and Regional Estimating Managers, establish and oversee the department budget for hardware and software.
- Cook up software training with Regional Estimating Managers.
- Stay current on industry software, hardware, and best practices; propose and implement improvements as needed.
- Absenteeism, assist with estimate development when required.
Management Responsibility
- Supervisor – responsible for hiring, performance management and pay administration for subordinates. List supervised positions: Estimators
- Acts as a project manager – management of a project team, on which the individuals comprising the team may vary by project.
Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 7 years relevant mechanical construction industry experience is required.
- Minimum of 1 year construction operations supervisory, supervising estimating function.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
- Knowledge of mechanical construction operations, principles and project life cycle.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel. PowerPoint, and internet research tools.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with success managing teams in a fast-paced. Shifting-priority environment.
- Strong collaboration skills; able to foster cooperation across teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to leadership, clients, engineers, and project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of current industry technologies and ability to lead adoption of new systems and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to changing priorities.
Benefits and Compensation
- The range for this position has been established at $142,080.00 - $200,000.00 and is US Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting.
- The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
- Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off.
