About the Role

The Director of Entrepreneurial Programming, as a member of the Gail Miller Business School, supervises and supports operations including The Mill Incubator and Co-Working Space; Grants and Compliance for Assigned Programs; Co-procurement of Grants (with SLCC Development Office and the SLCC Office of Sponsored Projects); Global Business Center Program and Events; Refugee Leadership Training Program (Adult and Youth Courses); support for external Advisory Committees; and development of curricular content, recruiting and hiring of instructors, facilitation of programming, and stakeholder relations for assigned programs.

This role supports the academic affairs division by collaborating with faculty and providing opportunities for business students. It requires active participation in communities (e.g., Silicon Slopes), delivering events and workshops, and connecting GMBS faculty, staff, and students to relevant opportunities. Building and maintaining key relationships inside and outside the school is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with GMBS Associate Deans and Directors to identify and address specific needs, including management of entrepreneurial programs and staff, outreach to community and industry members, and increasing program satisfaction and participation rates.
  • Grow and develop current programs and collaborate with staff and industry partners to identify future program needs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and deliver innovative workshops, competitions, and experiential learning opportunities that enhance business and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Maintain relationships with other entrepreneurship centers at higher education partners to provide SLCC students with resources and pathways to complete their degrees and pursue further education at four-year universities.
  • Manage and lead support staff to identify goals and assess outcomes, including administrative assistants, program managers, coordinators, and other part-time staff.
  • Establish and monitor budgets and facilitate grants, donations, and financial support in accordance with Salt Lake Community College policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to expose Gail Miller Business School students to employers and businesses utilizing the Incubator space to amplify impact, including internships, employment, and mentorship pathways.
  • Collaborate with the Gail Miller Business School Marketing Manager and Institutional Marketing to highlight relevant stories, relationships, and opportunities.
  • Work with faculty and staff to incorporate methods, skills, and ideas important to higher education partners and industry employers into courses, programs, and extracurricular activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field (required).
  • Four (4) to seven (7) years of direct experience in representing, funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Recognized subject matter expertise or advisory role in early-stage or growth-focused businesses.
  • Strong connections to local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders.
  • Credible experience in at least 2 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  • Public persona as evidenced by speaking invitations, conference presentations, awards, or social media presence.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures in alliances or collaborative structures.
  • Relationships with local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders.
  • Credible experience in 4 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people from various academic, business, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including community college students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.
