Director, Enterprise Safety

Key Responsibilities

• Work with HR and Legal to oversee Workers Compensation cases for the company
• Manage, promote and drive the Behavior Based Safety Program (observations, near miss, Root cause corrective action, training and mentorship)
• Oversee management of safety programs for Buford and multiple remote sites (sites TBD)
• Investigate and resolve compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through audits, investigations, root cause corrective actions and proactive risk analysis
• Develop programs and policies to reduce risk, work with operations to implement improvements
• Oversee programs to ensure compliance with Global Industrial policies and Local, State, OSHA, EPA and DOT environmental, health and safety regulations
• Manage site safety/workers comp metrics and reporting, back up for corporate safety metrics
• Perform specific safety training as required
• Manage site universal/hazard waste program
• Conduct train the trainer courses and participate in training as required
• Conducts job hazard analysis and risk assessments related to facilities and equipment
• Responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management
• Responsible for performing other duties as assigned

Competencies and skills

• Minimum of 4 years in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field or bachelor’s degree in related field plus two years’ experience in related field
• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a safety related field
• Strong presentation and teaching skills
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR
• Knowledge of shipping/receiving regulations specifically 49 CFR
• Knowledge of EPA regulations specifically EPCRA, HazWaste and Universal Waste
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel in a professional capacity
• Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel
• Positive & professional attitude
• Available to work flexible hours as needed including days, nights and/or weekends
• Travel up to 20% of the time

PREFERENCES

• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
• Experience leading and managing a team
• Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
• Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates
• Experience managing Worker’s Compensation cases
• Passion for choosing Safe Behaviors
