About the role

Within the Cloud AI organization, we focus on building highly differentiated, highly scalable, and easy-to-use machine learning products and services that enable our customers to transform their business with AI. Products such as Vertex AI and Vertex AI Search comprise a portfolio that spans the needs of Data Scientists, Developers, and overall Infrastructure. We not only provide customers with state-of-the-art ML models, such as Gemini, but also full ML model building/serving toolsets (i.e., MLOps) and management workflows to enable customers to turn ideas into high-quality production AI solutions across verticals on Google’s industry leading infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team to navigate deep technical problem spaces in Cloud AI.
  • Manage a small team of developer productivity engineers.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships, and work closely with developers and product owners to identify productivity, production quality, coverage issues, and provide insight on improving both through scale and tooling.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of professional experience in software engineering. Experience in developer productivity, developer tooling, or infrastructure functions. Experience with AI and machine learning technologies.

Preferred qualifications

  • Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science. 20 years of professional experience in software engineering. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, software development lifecycle, and experience driving engineering excellence through rigorous testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Ability to understand the technical and operational challenges that engineers face within large organizations. Exceptional communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and work with senior stakeholders across different departments. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of development practices and processes.

Pay

US: $307000 - $428000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits
