Director, Electric Utilities

About the Role

At STACK, the Director, Electric Utilities will report to the Vice President, Electric Utilities and will be responsible for developing and executing near-term and long-term strategies to support the STACK Development team in integrating data center projects. This role involves managing consultant studies, supporting transmission needs, and fostering relationships with external stakeholders. The Director will also contribute to corporate initiatives such as process improvements, market exploration, energy procurement, and regulatory/policy advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Manage the load-interconnection process and serve as the primary point of contact with utilities for data center projects.
• Own, cultivate, and manage utility relationships to foster collaboration.
• Document utility load interconnection processes, including financial commitments, cost responsibilities, and timelines.
• Support reviews of utility contracts and forecast/manage utility budgets for projects.
• Work closely with the development team to develop business cases for each project.
• Assess potential data center sites for power delivery viability.
• Develop strategies to improve internal processes, workflows, and communications.
• Understand utility and ISO/RTO planning practices in assigned regions.
• Support relationship management with utilities and RTO/ISOs for project-specific efforts.
• Collaborate with STACK Energy and Policy teams to improve processes for data center integration.
• Prepare presentations, track market activity, and provide regular reports.
• Collaborate with other business units, including preconstruction, supply chain, design, sales, legal, and tax.
• Aid in preparing business cases and recommendations for leadership approval.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in the energy space (utility, consulting firm, renewable energy company, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, creative thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to create processes and implement strategies with minimal supervision.
• Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Pay

Compensation Range: $209,300.00 - $234,600.00

Travel: 10-20%

Denver, CO, or within 1 hour of any STACK site in the central region (Dallas, Chicago, New Albany, San Francisco, Virginia, and Atlanta)
