Director Donor Engagement
About the role
The Role Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) or Ministry Philanthropy Leader, the Director of Donor Engagement and Operations supports the direction and overall effectiveness of the Foundation in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Providence. The Director participates in strategic planning, goal setting, reporting, and budgeting and serves as a vital contributor in creating, implementing, integrating, assessing, and continuously improving Foundation strategies, processes, and procedures that drive successful philanthropic outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to the CPO by facilitating and/or leading execution of plans, schedules, communications, status reporting, and project deliverables across multiple initiatives.
- Oversee project management for Foundation initiatives, including presentations, proposals, gift agreements, donor recognition, prospect management activities, and liaison program efforts.
- Manage cross-functional project coordination across Foundation teams, shared services, and external partners.
- Implement and support the CPO’s fundraising vision through structured meeting cadence, prospect reporting, and analytics using tools such as Power BI and Prysm.
- Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of team members, as applicable.
- Oversee donor data tracking and approval processes related to acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship activities.
- Support budgeting processes and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals and objectives.
Stewardship & Donor Engagement
- Develop and operationalize a comprehensive donor stewardship and recognition program, including major and principal gift stewardship.
- Oversee gift acknowledgment processes to ensure timely, meaningful, and documented donor recognition.
- Manage donor communications and reporting, including stewardship of endowed funds and impact reporting.
- Develop consistent mechanisms for sharing information that supports donor cultivation and engagement.
- Draft and coordinate key communications for internal and external stakeholders as directed by the CPO.
Recognition & Program Development
- Oversee donor recognition programs, including named spaces, giving societies, and recognition events, ensuring consistency and adherence to established guidelines.
- Design and implement an integrated donor recognition strategy, including events, naming opportunities, and formal acknowledgments.
- Manage annual updates of donor recognition displays to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
- Partner with Foundation communications teams to support recognition of donors through internal and external communications and publications.
Board Engagement & Strategic Support
- Plan, facilitate, and execute Foundation Board initiatives and engagement strategies, including strategic planning, stewardship, and team-building activities.
- Carefully coordinate all aspects of Board meetings, reporting, and evaluation materials in partnership with the CPO.
- Support Board Development Committee initiatives and ongoing governance activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8 years of experience in donor relations, stewardship, or philanthropy-related roles.
- 5 years of leadership experience.
- 5 years of experience in administrative operations within an executive office.
- Project management experience (preferred).
- Experience in healthcare, higher education, or other large, complex organizations (strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning and manage complex initiatives.
- Strong experience in donor stewardship, recognition communications, and engagement strategies.

Benefits
The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
