Director, Domestic Operations

Duties And Responsibilities

• Support and insight to Pool Managers and supervisors to make effective decisions to reduce costs and improve revenue
• Collaborate with all functional departments through implementation of new business models to ensure a smooth and successful execution
• Develop clear and measurable objectives for the Domestic Operations team that support the company’s overall business strategy
• Liaison with vendors, rail operators, and customers to ensure operational satisfaction
• Lead and participate in meetings with key stakeholders internally such as Domestic Commercial team. Lead and participate in external meetings with Customers, Vendors and host railroads
• Develop key agenda items and lead the daily Domestic Team Meeting
• Develop cost saving initiatives on an on-going basis to ensure year over year savings
• Works closely with field Maintenance and Repair colleagues to ensure that the appropriate quantity of chassis are repaired and available
• Provides required inputs for annual budget and provides insight and analysis on monthly expenses in review of costs better or wors vs budget
• Implements and monitors adherence to all DCLI policies including, but not limited to harassment and affirmative action/equal employment; insures compliance and cooperation
• Develops and oversees the annual appraisal process for managers, supervisors, and staff

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of operations experience in the intermodal, trucking, transportation, or equipment leasing industry, including at least 5 years of management experience
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
• Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to make clear and actionable business recommendations
• Flexibility with the ability to quickly adapt to change
• Strong computer skills (Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
