About the Role

As Director of Digital Solutions for Operations & Engineering at RWE Americas, you will lead the team responsible for IT solutions powering the Engineering and Operations business areas. This portfolio includes 130+ applications, from mission-critical software to large-scale enterprise platforms. You’ll shape the technology strategy, oversee in-house product development and COTS application management, and lead high-performing teams using Agile and DevOps practices. This high-visibility role is central to RWE Americas’ technology transformation, with a mandate to modernize a complex portfolio and contribute to the clean energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define multi-year technology roadmaps, aligning with enterprise architecture and corporate strategy. Lead transformations like cloud migrations and legacy system modernization.
• Business Alignment: Partner with business leaders to translate objectives into technology initiatives, ensuring measurable outcomes.
• Mentorship & Talent Development: Build and develop high-performing teams through strategic hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Agile & DevOps Excellence: Standardize practices, improve metrics like deployment frequency and reliability, and drive continuous improvement.
• System Modernization & Architecture: Establish standards for new solutions, ensuring longevity and maintainability.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure 99.9% uptime for core systems like Aveva PI through proactive monitoring and incident response.
• Integration Strategy: Govern data flows between 30+ systems, ensuring quality and reliability across the enterprise data platform.
• Enterprise Platform Management: Oversee SAP Plant Maintenance and Materials Management, streamlining governance and improving adoption.
• Vendor & Budget Oversight: Manage IT budgets, lead vendor selections, and optimize costs while aligning with technology direction.
• Governance & Compliance: Set frameworks for IT delivery, ensuring security, testing, and regulatory compliance.
• Portfolio Management: Maintain an accurate application portfolio with clear lifecycle plans and deprecation roadmaps.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
• Experience: 11+ years in IT, digital products, or infrastructure, with 5+ years in leadership roles. Experience managing platform solutions at scale in energy, utilities, or technology sectors.
• Technical Expertise: Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), DevOps, Agile, ERP systems, and IoT environments.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in Cloud Architecture, Agile Leadership, or related fields are a plus.

Work Environment

This is an office-based role with occasional travel to RWE Americas offices and field locations. Requires the ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
