About the role

This position serves as a leader in several key data-related areas for ADUSA Finance, including the overall data strategy, governance, and management of critical financial data—such as master data—and the strategic use of Finance data across Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA) and globally to ensure alignment. The Director will lead a team (both direct and indirect) in developing and implementing a cohesive data strategy, policies, standards, and standard data management processes related to data quality, use, and change. This role will also establish an overall data governance framework that defines leadership and accountability for data across ADUSA Finance.

The Director will serve as a thought leader and strategic advisor, bringing best practices in data governance, data management, integration, automation, and master data management to the business from industry groups and other sectors. This role will develop and implement a vision for industry-leading finance data governance to enable delivery of critical priorities by leveraging data at scale.

The Director will collaborate routinely with the ADUSA Finance Leadership team, EU and GSO Finance, Brand Finance teams, and other key ADUSA stakeholders (e.g., IT) to implement the data governance framework and ensure best practice alignment and proper use of data. Additionally, this role will lead the day-to-day execution of the data governance and management operating model in the U.S., coordinating cross-functional and cross-brand alignment on data standards at all organizational levels.

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Core office locations include Salisbury, NC; Carlisle, PA; Scarborough, ME; or Quincy, MA. All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the data governance and management operating model within ADUSA Finance, including standard processes, policies, and standards.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive vision and strategy for ADUSA Finance data to align the organization in a common direction.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of standard data management processes related to master data change, data issue resolution, quality management, demand, and use.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key business stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of an effective governance framework and reporting structure.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and global alignment regarding data policies and standards related to quality management, change, and use of data at all organizational levels.
  • Develop data governance and management-related metrics to drive ongoing evaluation and improvement across key operating model components (e.g., policies, standards, processes).
  • Provide thought leadership and actively engage in industry data initiatives, forums, and working groups representing ADUSA and advocating for scale and technology alignment.
  • Oversee and provide strategic leadership, direction, and management across ADUSA Finance for large-scale data-related initiatives (e.g., SAP, Data Foundation Work, Finance Transformation Roadmap).
  • Partner with the Accounting controls team to implement appropriate data-related controls across the data lifecycle to improve the quality of critical Finance data.
  • Lead the overall data-related education and training across ADUSA Finance to improve skills and competencies related to data governance and management.
  • Serve as the Business Owner for the master data management application—SAP MDG—and cross-reference process, working closely with IT to ensure strong controls around the use and sensitivity of financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered as a substitute on an exception basis.
  • 15+ years of previous business consulting, industry, or related experience.
  • 8+ years in Data Governance or a related field.
  • Experience working in a global, multi-vendor environment.
  • A minimum of 10 years of dynamic experience in leadership roles within Finance, Accounting, or financial data analytics and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in the implementation of data strategy, governance frameworks, operating models, and key data management processes.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working in a sophisticated multi-ERP system environment that includes SAP financials.
  • Proven record of success in enabling technologies and their impact on Data Analytics, Reporting, Finance, and accounting processes.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Finance capabilities and related processes.
  • Ability to analyze industry trends to identify opportunities and threats to current business practices.

Pay

  • Salary Range (NC, PA, ME): $139,120 - $208,680
  • Salary Range (MA): $160,000 - $240,000

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
