About the role
As the Director, Data Architecture, you will lead the vision, strategy, and governance for our enterprise data architecture across Databricks and AWS. In this highly visible leadership role, you'll establish the standards, frameworks, and best practices that enable Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Data Science teams to deliver trusted, secure, and scalable data solutions. You'll collaborate with technical and business leaders to drive innovation, support AI and machine learning initiatives, and build a high-performing team that shapes the future of our enterprise data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the enterprise data architecture strategy across Databricks and AWS.
- Develop scalable data ingestion, transformation, and serving architectures using modern ELT/ETL methodologies and Delta Lake.
- Establish enterprise-wide data modeling standards, data contracts, naming conventions, schema management, and data quality expectations.
- Partner with Data Engineering, BI, Data Science, Cloud Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure consistency across decentralized data initiatives.
- Design and govern secure, scalable cloud environments, including development, staging, and production architectures.
- Establish governance standards for platform configuration, access controls, secrets management, and cloud resource utilization.
- Guide architecture decisions supporting structured and unstructured data, AI/ML initiatives, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities.
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of data architects and engineers while promoting architectural excellence and cost-efficient cloud practices.
- Create and maintain architecture documentation, standards, and reference designs that improve developer productivity and platform consistency.
- Partner with data governance leaders to ensure compliance with data quality, lifecycle management, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture or Senior Data Engineering within modern cloud environments, including at least 3 years of leadership experience.
- Deep expertise with Databricks, Delta Lake, and modern cloud data architecture.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including storage, compute, IAM, networking, and secure access patterns.
- Experience designing scalable enterprise data architectures across cross-functional or decentralized organizations.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data lifecycle principles.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive architectural standards across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unity Catalog or similar data governance solutions.
- Knowledge of AI/ML platforms and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Experience with DataOps, platform governance, and enterprise BI ecosystems.
- Gaming industry experience is a plus.

Pay
Starting compensation range is $140,000 - $170,000 USD, with flexibility to adjust higher or lower based on the full scope of qualifications. We comply with all applicable local pay transparency laws and collective bargaining agreements.
