Director, Data and Platform
About the role
This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for shaping data architecture, platform infrastructure, and DevOps for a high-leverage AI engineering team. You will own the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation through extracts, reporting, and stakeholder-facing analytics. The role combines architecture, software development, infrastructure, and people leadership, with direct reports from the start. You will establish technical standards while personally building and shipping production-grade systems. Working closely with AI engineering, product, research, and business leaders, you will align technical investments with strategic priorities. The environment is small, fast-moving, and highly collaborative, offering substantial ownership and the opportunity to build systems and teams from the ground up. Your work will help create reliable, scalable data and AI infrastructure in a technology-driven healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end data architecture, including data ingestion, ETL and transformation, extracts, reporting, and BI layers, ensuring data remains accurate, timely, reliable, and trusted.
- Lead the architecture and operation of DevOps and infrastructure supporting AI engineering, covering systems from ingestion through serving.
- Establish technical direction, architecture standards, and engineering practices across data infrastructure, pipelines, transformation logic, platform reliability, and observability.
- Design, build, deploy, and operate production-grade systems, while continuing to write and ship code personally.
