About the role

We are looking for a Director of Corporate Development to help shape and execute our inorganic growth strategy. You will lead M&A and strategic partnership efforts end-to-end — from sourcing and due diligence through negotiation, deal execution, and post-close integration. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and business operations. This role reports directly to the VP of Corporate Development and works closely with executive leadership across product, finance, and legal.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive market assessments to identify suitable acquisition targets.
  • Evaluate industry trends that influence the company's growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather valuable market insights.
  • Develop financial models to project future cash flows and revenue impacts for potential acquisitions.
  • Analyze the historical financial performance of target companies to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Lead the entire M&A process, from sourcing potential deals to negotiating and closing transactions.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence to identify risks and evaluate synergies.
  • Drive post-merger integration planning in coordination with functional stakeholders, ensuring deal value is captured.
  • Prepare and present materials for executive and board-level audiences.

Qualifications

6–10 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or corporate development at a leading technology company. Successful track record of executing M&A transactions. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

  • Exceptional financial modeling and valuation skills; deep experience with negotiation and deal structuring.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and concisely.
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and business judgment.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary.
  • Health coverage for you and your family in many locations.
  • Ability to craft your calendar with flexible locations and schedules for many roles.
  • Generous number of vacation days each year.
  • Company matches up to $2000 (or local currency equivalent) for financial donations and service.
  • Up to 40 hours each year to use toward volunteer projects you love.
  • Minimum of 16 weeks of parental leave.
  • Eligibility to participate in Elastic's stock program.
  • Company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings.
  • Additional benefits focused on employee well‑being.

Pay

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary; there is no variable compensation component. The typical starting salary range for new hires is $192,300—$304,200 USD. In select locations (Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area) an alternate range may apply: $230,700—$365,000 USD. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
