Director, Corporate Counsel - Privacy

About the Role

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing privacy legal team; act as the primary escalation point for privacy issues
• Advise cross-functional teams on compliance with privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA
• Negotiate privacy terms in various legal documents related to customer and vendor transactions
• Provide daily legal support on privacy inquiries with practical, business-oriented guidance
• Support investigations of potential privacy breaches and assess regulatory responsibilities
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and frameworks for compliance
• Cultivate relationships to deliver strategic advice while ensuring privacy compliance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including 5 years specializing in privacy and data protection, ideally at a SaaS company
• Ability to simplify complex privacy issues for non-legal colleagues and support innovation
• Familiarity with the fast-paced culture of enterprise software companies and knowledge of SaaS products
• Experience with highly-regulated customers, particularly in financial services
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and drafting skills
• In-depth knowledge of privacy frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA
• Proven management experience leading a privacy legal team, preferably in a global setting

Compensation: $240,000 – $330,000 annually
