About the role
As a Director, Corporate Communications at Hanscom Federal Credit Union, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's narrative and driving its strategic communications efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the organization's business plan, strategic priorities, and brand objectives.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to executive leadership, providing guidance on messaging, reputation management, and stakeholder communications.
- Establish communication plans that align organizational initiatives with employee understanding, member engagement, and business outcomes.
- Ensure consistent messaging and brand voice across all communication channels.
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide internal communication strategies that inform, engage, and inspire employees.
- Partner with leadership, Human Resources, and business units to develop communications supporting culture, employee engagement, and organizational change.
- Oversee executive communications, including leadership messages, town halls, key presentations, and internal announcements.
- Measure and continuously improve communication effectiveness through employee feedback, engagement metrics, and communication analytics.
- Own the organization's social media strategy across all relevant platforms.
- Develop content strategies that support brand awareness, thought leadership, member engagement, recruitment, and business initiatives.
- Oversee content development, publishing calendars, community engagement, and performance reporting.
- Monitor social media trends, emerging platforms, and audience insights to optimize organizational presence and engagement.
- Establish governance and best practices for social media communications across the organization.
- Ensure all communications reflect organizational values, brand positioning, and strategic priorities.
- Oversee development of compelling content, including articles, executive messages, speeches, videos, newsletters, social content, and corporate publications.
- Collaborate with marketing and brand teams to ensure integration between communications campaigns and broader marketing initiatives.
- Maintain editorial standards and communication governance across channels.
- Develop KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure communication effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor media coverage, social engagement, communication performance, and employee engagement metrics.
- Use data-driven insights to refine communication strategies and maximize impact.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 8–10+ years of progressively responsible experience in corporate communications, public relations, marketing communications, or related roles.
- Experience leading both internal and external communications programs.
- Experience developing and executing social media strategies and content programs.
- Experience advising senior leaders and managing executive communications.
- Financial/Banking experience not required.

- Ability to translate complex business initiatives into clear, compelling communications.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in communication planning, storytelling, and content strategy.
- Knowledge of media relations, public affairs, and social media best practices.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to guide communications strategy.
Physical Requirements
- Able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
- Capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
- Capable of operating routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
- Capable of routinely performing work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
- Capable of working extended hours or traveling off site whenever required or requested by management.
- Capable of regularly attending work.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
- Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
- Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
- Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
- Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
- Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
- Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
