About the Role

You'll lead the content engine behind Thomson Reuters' strategy in the legal industry's generative AI shift. This role involves setting the editorial agenda for the Legal Professionals business, shaping market understanding of the future of legal work, and building content programs that drive demand for CoCounsel, Westlaw, Practical Law, HighQ, and Noetica.

You'll report to the VP of Revenue Marketing - Legal and Government, partnering closely with Brand, Product Marketing, Thomson Reuters Institute, Communications, Product, and Sales leadership. You'll lead a team of writers, strategists, and producers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute editorial strategy, including themes, narratives, and point of view for the Legal Professionals portfolio, grounded in customer insights, commercial priorities, and competitive analysis.
  • Create content that drives pipeline: organic search/SEO, demand generation content for nurture and conversion, sales enablement, and integrated content for launches and campaigns.
  • Establish and optimize the content operating model: editorial calendar, production workflows, distribution across paid/owned/earned/partner channels, and measurement frameworks tied to business outcomes.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing team of content leaders, writers, and producers, leveraging internal Studio, agency, and contributor networks.

Year-One Outcomes

  • A defined editorial point of view recognized in the market, measured through share of voice.
  • Measurable lift in organic traffic and content-influenced pipeline across the Legal Professionals portfolio.
  • A scalable content team and operating model, including clear standards for AI-assisted production that protect voice, accuracy, and authority.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in content strategy and editorial leadership at a B2B SaaS, professional services, or media company, with 3+ years leading and scaling a team.
  • Proven track record of building original content programs that influenced a market, with demonstrable business impact.
  • Strong editorial judgment: ability to critique and refine content, including rewriting when necessary.
  • Fluency with AI content tools and a clear perspective on balancing automation with voice and accuracy.
  • Comfort working with senior executives: extracting insights, ghostwriting, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency with content performance data and marketing analytics, balancing metrics with craft.
  • Familiarity with the modern content stack: CMS, content operations platforms (e.g., Workfront, Contently, Writer), SEO/analytics tools, and AI-assisted production.
  • Experience in legal, regulated, or professional services markets is a plus. If not, demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to complex verticals.

Pay

The base compensation range for this role is:

  • $158,100–$293,500 USD (New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC).
  • $137,200–$254,800 USD (other eligible U.S. locations).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on enterprise and individual performance.
