About the role

The Director is part of the Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) team which delivers high-impact advisory and implementation projects to Visa’s clients across Southern Eastern Africa (SEA) and West Central Africa (WCA). We are looking for motivated individuals to join our growing practice to contribute to business development, lead consulting projects delivery, and guide team members to deliver high-quality client engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement and Proposal Development
    • Build senior client relationships across banks, merchants and fintechs.
    • Understand client objectives, strategic priorities, implementation needs, technology requirements, and delivery constraints.
    • Convert client needs into proposals, statements of work, roadmaps, delivery plans, commercials, and implementation timelines.
    • Lead and support VCA pitches, presentations, and proposal development, using a consultative sales approach.
  • Engagement Delivery and Program Management
    • Structure and deliver complex consulting and implementation engagements end-to-end, ensuring clear problem definitions, hypotheses, and workplans.
    • Stand up and manage large regional and Pan-African VCA programs, overseeing planning, governance, risk management, and closure.
    • Lead multi-disciplinary delivery teams across Visa and client stakeholders, ensuring alignment, timely execution, and high-quality outputs.
  • Operating Model, Pipeline, and Practice Development
    • Develop and improve the regional VCA operating model, methodologies, playbooks, templates, dashboards, and delivery standards.
    • Improve intake, discovery, proposal development, sourcing, onboarding, governance, reporting, quality assurance, and post-implementation review.
    • Collaborate with Visa teams to cultivate opportunities and manage the VCA pipeline across priority clients, markets, and product areas.
    • Contribute to thought leadership and knowledge-sharing initiatives within VCA and across regions.

Key Measures of Success

  • Strong VCA opportunity pipeline conversion.
  • Practical, high-quality proposals, statements of work, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
  • Delivery to agreed scope, timelines, quality standards, and outcomes.
  • Strong senior client relationships and increased demand for VCA support.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with at least a Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Consulting experience gained within either a strategy house or a Big 4 firm.
  • Strong understanding of card operations, digital payments, product implementation, portfolio management, and client operations.
  • Proven ability to convert client needs into proposals, statements of work, roadmaps, resource plans, governance models, and commercial recommendations.
  • Ability to define resource needs and, where appropriate, source specialist talent through agencies, contractors, system integrators, or managed service providers.
  • Strong program management, stakeholder management, executive reporting, and operating model improvement experience.
  • African markets experience strongly preferred; regional and global experience desirable.
  • Strong executive presence, analytical capability, communication, negotiation, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable in matrixed environments, able to influence stakeholders, drive outcomes, travel frequently, and work on client sites.
  • Relationship management skills, with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Superior project management skills.
  • Expertise in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint to develop high-quality client presentations.
  • Results-driven, flexible, and both internally and externally customer-focused.
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative with limited direction.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with inter-disciplinary groups.
