Director, Consult Partner - Oil & Gas - Houston, TX
About the role
As a Consult Partner, you will build senior business and technology relationships with energy clients and Kyndryl account teams, translating strategy into value-based outcomes. You will lead small, high-performing teams across multiple engagements—advancing your career in one of the fastest-growing IT consulting businesses globally.
Responsibilities
- Lead consultative sales pursuits—shaping client strategies, roadmaps, and modernization programs across the Kyndryl Consult portfolio
- Leverage established relationships across downstream and midstream oil & gas and oilfield services to open doors and build pipeline
- Build and sustain executive relationships with client leaders and internal stakeholders
- Originate, develop, and close new business aligned to C-suite priorities and measurable outcomes
- Partner with account leadership on account planning; lead pursuit teams through solutioning, proposal development, and negotiation to drive growth
- Apply expertise in hyperscaler platforms and agentic AI to identify client needs and land opportunities (e.g., Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework, agentic AI-aided mainframe modernization, agentic AI-aided software modernization)
- Provide industry and technical thought leadership—sharing POVs, success stories, and proven modernization principles
- Identify land-and-expand opportunities that scale from consulting entry points to enterprise transformation programs

Required Expertise & Education
- Proven track record in IT consulting (preferably with a top-tier global firm), consistently achieving sales, business development, and growth targets
- 10+ years of experience in oil & gas consulting and technology services sales, with a consistent record of closing and expanding executive-level engagements
- Learning agility and industry curiosity—turning energy market insight and competitive context into differentiated solutions; building fluency in agentic AI and its business impact
- Track record of delivering workshops, assessments, strategies, roadmaps, designs, and deployment plans
- Track record of designing and leading client transformation programs that deliver optimization and modernization outcomes
- Track record of developing and expanding client relationships with executive focus
- Executive presence and strong communication—able to frame business problems, align stakeholders, and present transformation narratives that resonate with both business and IT leaders
- Differentiated downstream/midstream and oilfield services expertise, including leading digital transformation for large enterprise clients
- Deep knowledge of oil & gas business and technology domains, including modern platforms, data, and transformation patterns
- Practical understanding of agentic AI use cases in energy and the ability to translate them into client value and sellable engagements
- Strong grasp of IT and business trends, client pain points, competitive landscape, and peer benchmarks
- Demonstrated ability to shape large complex, multi-competency deals across the Kyndryl technology practices portfolio
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as business, economics, engineering, and computer science. Master’s degree in a similar field or MBA preferred
Skills
- Experience developing and negotiating Statements of Work and Master Service Agreement contracts through deal closure
- Development of business cases with return-on-investment analysis
- Hands-on experience with hyperscalers, including large-scale cloud optimization, migration, and modernization programs and partner motions
- Ability to articulate modern software engineering and operations models (e.g., cloud native, DevOps, SRE, AIOps) and the path to a target operating model (people, process, technology)
- Stay current on emerging technologies (including agentic AI) and communicate practical oil & gas applications with credibility
Benefits
Compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $185,760 to $334,320 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.
Pay & Schedule
The position is eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans.
