Responsibilities
- Conduct internal compliance investigations, ranging from routine to complex in nature.
- Develop and execute effective investigation plans.
- Interview witnesses using fair and effective techniques.
- Manage members of global investigations firms and/or outside counsel in conducting interviews and collection/review of evidence.
- Research, collect and analyze large quantities of data (pursuant to relevant privacy laws).
- Identify issues and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Prepare timely, accurate and well-written reports.
- Develop expertise in particular high-risk international geographic areas and/or subject matter areas in the U.S. for the purpose of conducting internal compliance investigations.
- Assist in the management and development of more junior members of the team.
- Collaborate with risk and monitoring functions to analyze data analytics stemming from investigations.
- Prepare written and oral summaries and presentations as needed to business colleagues (including executive leaders) and HR professionals.
- Effectively present investigation findings to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Partner and liaise with all investigative teams including Human Resources/Employee Relations, Corporate Security, the Law Department and external counsel, Cybersecurity, and Quality.
- Build and maintain internal stakeholder relationships to ensure requisite subject matter expertise is included in all investigations.
Requirements
- Minimum education of a bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of investigative and/or legal and/or compliance experience (law firm, in-house, forensic/consulting, or government) is required. Prior in-house pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, pharmaceutical industry and laws required (e.g., HCP interactions, FDCA, AKS, FCPA, FCA, GMP, GCP, etc.).
- Ability to navigate matrix organization and complex compliance issues while exhibiting sound judgment and objectivity; systematic approach to decision making; ability to determine root cause and identify viable and alternate solutions.
- Proven successful investigation/project management in developing and executing all phases of an investigation plan including collection, review and analysis of data, information and records; conducting interviews; documenting work completed; drafting findings and conclusions; accountability for successful completion.
- Excellent communication skills that are effective with the appropriate tact and diplomacy for all levels of the organization as well as for external counsel.
- Ability to discuss and debate various topics with senior leadership is essential for success in this position.
- Must lead by example in cultivating the culture of compliance.
- Respect for confidentiality and ability to manage confidential information with discretion is of critical importance.
Pay
The starting compensation range for this role is $200,430 - $242,874 for a full-time employee (FTE) basis in Madison - Giralda, NJ or Princeton, NJ. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

- Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico, and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays.
- Based on eligibility, additional time off may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs, and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Year's Day.
- Paid Time Off:
All global employees (full and part-time) who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.
Schedule
BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based, and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
- Site-essential roles: Require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility.
- Site-by-design roles: May be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. Onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive company culture.
- Field-based and remote-by-design roles: The ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients, or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
