Director, Compliance
About the role
This position assists with the day-to-day compliance activities to meet NCAA, conference, and University of North Texas requirements. Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, this position will provide support in all areas of athletic compliance monitoring and reporting including but not limited to Bylaws 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. This position will also assist in drafting and submitting waivers and violations to conference office and the NCAA for assigned sports, when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Assists in managing the day-to-day responsibilities of a compliance department tasked with serving the student athletes, coaches and support staffs of 16 NCAA Division I sports.
- Assists with rules education program for coaches, staff, student athletes and other internal and external constituents.
- Assists in drafting and submitting waivers and violations of NCAA and Conference legislation.
- Assists in NCAA, conference and institutional reporting.
- Researches NCAA rules and provide coaches and staff with interpretations.
- Work within conference and NCAA to obtain official rules interpretations as needed.
- Manages tasks related to initial eligibility and admissions tracking for all incoming student athletes.
- Prepares all athletics aid agreements in accordance with Institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations.
- Implements the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program in accordance with NLI and NCAA regulations.
- Maintains, updates and corrects all financial aid and athletics participation information in NCAA compliance assistant software (CA).
- Prepares annual participation reports and scholarship tracking documentation.
- Creates and manages UNT Compliance Internship program.
- Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
- Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
- Prepares progress reports, informs supervisor of project status and deviation from goals.
- Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
