Director, Compensation & Benefits
About the role
McAfee is seeking a Director, Global Compensation & Benefits to join its Global Total Rewards team. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Total Rewards, this role provides strategic leadership across global equity, job architecture, compensation, and benefits.
A key focus is the design, administration, and evolution of McAfee’s equity programs. The Director will bring deep equity expertise—including experience with private and public company equity structures and practices—and ensure programs remain competitive, scalable, and aligned with the company’s business and talent strategy.
The Director will also advance McAfee’s global job architecture and compensation framework (job leveling, career structures, market benchmarking, pay practices) and oversee global compensation and benefits programs. They will partner closely with the Vice President, Total Rewards, senior leaders, HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to reinforce a strong pay-for-performance culture and an effective, well-governed Total Rewards strategy.
The preferred location is Frisco, Texas, with a hybrid work arrangement. Candidates outside Texas may be considered and should expect to travel to McAfee’s Frisco or San Jose offices as business needs require. Relocation assistance is not currently offered.
Global Compensation Leadership
- Lead the design, administration, and ongoing evolution of McAfee’s global compensation programs, including base pay, salary structures, annual incentives, and other compensation programs.
- Partner closely with the Vice President, Total Rewards to ensure programs are competitive, scalable, aligned with business priorities, and reinforce McAfee’s pay-for-performance culture.
Equity Strategy & Programs
- Serve as the key subject-matter expert for McAfee’s equity programs, supporting program design, administration, governance, modeling, and communication.
- Bring deep experience with both private and public company equity programs, including how equity strategy, plan design, valuation, dilution, and governance considerations evolve across ownership structures.
Job Architecture & Career Frameworks
- Lead and evolve McAfee’s global job architecture, including job families, levels, job evaluation methodologies, career frameworks, and alignment to salary structures.
- Partner across HR and the business to establish consistent approaches to job leveling and career progression that support organizational design, internal mobility, market competitiveness, and internal equity.
Market Intelligence & Compensation Analytics
- Lead global market pricing, benchmarking, and competitive analysis across functions, levels, and geographies.
- Translate market data and internal analytics into actionable recommendations regarding pay positioning, salary structures, compensation practices, and program design.
People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and empower a team of compensation and benefits professionals while building the capabilities needed to support McAfee’s evolving Total Rewards strategy.
Global Benefits Leadership
- Lead the administration and ongoing evolution of McAfee’s global benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement, wellness, and other employee offerings.
- Evaluate programs for competitiveness, employee value, cost effectiveness, and alignment with McAfee’s broader Total Rewards strategy.
Annual Compensation Programs
- Lead the execution of McAfee’s annual compensation processes, including merit, bonus, promotion, and equity planning.
- Partner with the Vice President, Total Rewards, HR Business Partners, Finance, and other stakeholders on budgeting, modeling, implementation, and communication.
Compensation & Benefits Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and senior business leaders on compensation and benefits matters, including strategic hiring, retention, promotions, job leveling, organizational changes, and other complex talent decisions.
Governance, Pay Equity & Compliance
- Maintain strong governance across compensation, equity, and benefits programs and ensure compliance with applicable global regulatory requirements.
- Support McAfee’s approach to pay transparency, pay equity, and consistent application of Total Rewards policies and programs globally.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, HR Operations, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and other key stakeholders to ensure compensation, equity, job architecture, and benefits programs are effectively designed, governed, and implemented.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the global compensation and benefits teams, strengthening technical capabilities, operational discipline, accountability, and partnership across the organization.
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate Total Rewards programs and processes using market trends, internal data, employee insights, and business needs.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve operational effectiveness, strengthen employee understanding, and enhance McAfee’s overall Total Rewards offering.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) with 10+ years of experience in global compensation and benefits management, including at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role.
- Extensive experience designing and managing performance-driven compensation structures, global benefits programs, and executive compensation.
- Deep knowledge of global compensation and benefits practices, with proven experience leading both compensation and benefits programs across multiple regions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and performance accountability.
- Expertise in HRIS systems (Workday, Oracle, SAP, or similar), with a focus on compensation and benefits data management, reporting, and employee communication.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align compensation and benefits strategies to McAfee’s broader business goals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and stakeholders on compensation and benefits strategies.
- High level of discretion in managing sensitive compensation and benefits information, maintaining trust and confidentiality across the organization.

Pay
USD $141,680.00/Yr. – USD $232,800.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
