Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial, technology, and software licensing agreements, including MSAs, SaaS agreements and associated privacy and data processing terms (e.g., DPAs), consulting agreements, service level agreements, EULAs, sourcing agreements, and software/equipment-related agreements under the direction of the Legal Technology team
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to confidently collaborate with client stakeholders and colleagues on the legal team
  • Manage a high-volume workload of multiple projects by prioritizing effectively and escalating complex, novel, or high-risk matters where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of consumer protection, data use, privacy, and data security laws and regulations, as well as evolving industry standards, and seek senior input as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctor Degree with strong academic credentials from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
  • 3-8 years of combined, relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house in a technology or media/entertainment company and fast-paced environment
  • Experience with commercial technology licensing (e.g., SaaS) and other procurement transactions, including exposure to artificial intelligence and related technologies
  • Familiarity with ancillary subject matter associated with new media, digital and technology matters (e.g., FCC, FTC, copyright and privacy legislation, and industry practices)
  • Excellent negotiating and drafting skills, with strong attention to detail and sound analytical abilities
  • To balance legal protections with practical business needs, while identifying and escalating issues requiring strategic direction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently on routine matters, while working collaboratively with senior colleagues on more complex issues
  • Strong communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills

Qualifications

  • Nice to have but not a dealbreaker: Admission to the State Bar of California. Registered In-House Counsel is acceptable
  • Familiarity with data and information privacy/security best practices
  • Experience with digital platforms and streaming products
