The Director, Business Applications, based in Lexington, will play an important role in delivering and managing strategic business applications. You will manage the global Business Applications team, ensuring our business processes run smoothly in our main business application platforms such as Veeva, Benchling, SAP, and other adjacent platforms. You will ensure the team delivers the right value to the organization by properly evaluating which activities generate the most value and by helping the team and the organization make priority decisions. Additionally, you will oversee vendor relationships to ensure maximum output and business continuity. You will be part of the global IT team, fostering cross-functional collaboration across IT functions.
Responsibilities
- Manages the entire Applications Team, currently consisting of Application Engineers & Specialists.
- Manages on average 1 large business application implementation.
- Ensures Application Management within uniQure provides the best value to the organization, balancing internal resources, business key users, communities, and vendor support structures.
- Oversees the overall Application Management structure, including Configuration Management, Change Management, Quality & (Automated) Testing, Release Management, and operational support of strategic IT and Business Applications (e.g., ERP, Electronic Lab Notebook, Contract Lifecycle Systems, QMS, DMS, LMS, RIMS, eTMF, CTMS, CRM, MedComs, PromoMats).
- Manages vendor relationships, overseeing timeliness and quality of services provided to Business Applications.
- Ensures IT compliance and regulations; participates and provides artifacts and evidence for audits.
- Defines, writes, and provides handover training on procedures and work instructions to enable Support Engineers to assist the business community.
- Intakes and onboards new essential business applications and vendors, orchestrating application service processes.
- Manages second and third-level support for issues and questions regarding Business Applications, including escalations to external support layers.
- Participates in and leads platform and application activities such as planned maintenance, communication, and installations.
- Proposes and implements solutions for improved IT documentation and process descriptions.
- Collaborates closely with the Implementation Manager and IT Business Analysts during implementations, ensuring proper handover to application management/support.
- Ensures close collaboration with other IT functions, fostering a unified team approach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in business systems application management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience and/or involvement in large-scale business application implementations.
- Clear evidence of effectively managing diverse computer systems and integrations.
- Proven experience managing a team of application engineers and specialists.
- Demonstrated ability to make a team more efficient and value-driven.
- Experience in an international organization.
- Background in large Business Applications (CRM, ERP, HCM).
- Project Management skills.
- Experience managing SoX and/or GxP compliant systems.
- Ideally, experience working in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry.
Pay
Salary Range: $205,000 to $265,000. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on factors including qualifications, relevant years of experience, specific skills, education, certifications, and location.
