The Director of Behavioral Health at NorthBay Health is responsible for overseeing the behavioral health service line, providing direction for operations, integrated care models, program development, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary team performance.

About the role

This leader partners closely with medical leadership, primary care, specialty services, nursing, care management, hospital leaders, and community agencies to ensure accessible, high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health services aligned with organizational goals. The Director promotes evidence-based practices, integrated behavioral health delivery, operational excellence, workforce development, and equitable access to mental health and substance use disorder services across the continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic oversight of behavioral health operations
  • Development and implementation of integrated care models
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Regulatory compliance and adherence
  • Interdisciplinary team performance management
  • Collaboration with medical leadership, primary care, specialty services, nursing, care management, hospital leaders, and community agencies
  • Promotion of evidence-based practices and integrated behavioral health delivery
  • Optimization of service delivery while aligning with organizational goals

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Current clinical licensure preferred, such as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Psychologist, RN, or equivalent behavioral health credential
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health operations, outpatient services, or integrated healthcare delivery required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience overseeing multidisciplinary behavioral health teams required
  • Experience within a medical group, ambulatory care environment, or integrated health system preferred
  • Experience with value-based care, population health, and integrated behavioral health models preferred

Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare operations, financial management, change management, and strategic planning
  • Strong knowledge of care workflows, practice operations, revenue cycle, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with dyad leadership models and collaborative leadership style
  • Demonstrated expertise in taking initiative, follow through, results-oriented, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated effective project management skills
  • Maintains strong organizational skills and demonstrates ability to handle job-related stress, set priorities, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines

Compensation

$180k to $195k annually, based on years of experience doing the duties of the role. Bonus eligible.
