Director Behavioral Health
Full-time, benefits-eligible position (40 hours per week).
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (onsite and remote).
Pay
$47.50 – $71.25 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Respond to referrals and requests for services, including clinical screening of potential admissions.
- Interface with medical staff, department heads, and administration; serve as liaison with other Behavioral Health Centers.
- Coordinate hiring, training, development, and coaching/counseling of Call Center Counselors, RNs, and Associates.
- Write and revise departmental policies and procedures in alignment with system goals.
- Ensure compliance with licensure requirements for all department members.
- Manage and coordinate all call center projects, ensuring 24-hour coverage.
- Verify that information obtained by Call Center Counselors is accurate and clinically based decisions are made regarding patient level of care.
- Work across hospital areas, including units, clinics, cottages, and the emergency department.
- Maintain reports and reconcile interpreting expenses for the hospital.
- Provide and ensure quality guest/customer relations; ensure professional communication with patients, families, referral sources, and staff.
- Develop, strategize, and oversee behavioral health operations across the system; accountable for clinical, financial, and functional outcomes.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
Physical Requirements
- Work in the Call Center and surrounding areas, including patient care units, emergency rooms, offices, and conference areas with potential exposure to hostile patients.
- Frequent movement between areas, answering telephones and pagers, and coordinating with staff across disciplines and agencies.
- Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds, including medical equipment and supplies.
