Director, Automation & Controls
for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule.
We need to decide which sections apply.
We have:
- Job Summary: could be "About the role" (summary). Use About the role
then
with summary. - Essential Duties: Responsibilities. Use
Responsibilities
then- each duty.
- Qualifications Required: Requirements? Could be "Requirements" or "Qualifications". The spec says we can have both Requirements and Qualifications sections. But we need to avoid duplication. Probably combine required qualifications under "Requirements" and preferred under "Qualifications"? Or we could have "Qualifications" for required and preferred. But we need to follow instruction: Use headings as given; we can include both if content exists. Let's think: The posting has "Qualifications Required" and "Qualifications Preferred". Also there is a list of "Working knowledge of:" which could be Skills. So we could map:
- Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, 10+ years experience, leading projects, leading team, relationship building.
- Qualifications: Preferred: Budget Responsibility: yes (maybe not needed). Could also include other preferred? Not much else.
- Skills: Working knowledge of: Computer assisted drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools.
- Benefits: list of benefits (health insurance, family-building, 401K, wellness program, tuition reimbursement, ERGs, etc.)
- Pay: Base Salary Range: $180,000-$230,000. Also mention base salary exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses, individual compensation determined based on factors. We should include that.
- Schedule: Travel Requirements: 60% travel. Also maybe dimensions? Not schedule. Could include "Travel Requirements: 60%" under Schedule. Also maybe "Number of Direct Reports: 4+" could be under About the role? Not schedule. But schedule section only if posting actually states schedule info. Travel is schedule-related. So we can include Schedule heading with travel % and maybe direct reports? Direct reports is not schedule. Could put under About the role or Responsibilities? Might be better to include under About the role as part of role overview. But we can also add a separate section like "Team" but not allowed headings. So we incorporate direct reports into About the role or Responsibilities.
We must not include boilerplate like EEO, disability, accommodation, etc. Remove those.
We must preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep all details from the posting that are substantive: job summary, essential duties (list), qualifications required, qualifications preferred (budget responsibility), skills (working knowledge), benefits list, pay range, travel requirements, number of direct reports.
We must not repeat job title as heading. So no heading for Director of Automation and Control Systems.
We must not put Job ID/requisition numbers as headings (none present).
We must not include cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. So we need to strip the EEO paragraph at end, the accommodation contact, the "We believe our employees are our greatest resource..." etc. Also remove "If applying for positions in the U.S., must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit)." That's boilerplate.
Also remove "How We Protect What Matters Most:" heading? That's basically benefits section; we can keep the list but not the heading as it's not one of our allowed headings; we will use
Benefits
and then list. We need to preserve the benefit items exactly as they appear (maybe rephrase? Must preserve ALL substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we should keep the benefit items as they are, maybe as- each item.
We need to ensure we don't add extra sections like "About the role" if we don't have content; we do have job summary.
Now produce HTML fragment.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $180,000-$230,000 (base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.)
We need to preserve all substantive information: the note about base salary exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses, and individual compensation determination. So include that. Now Schedule:Schedule
Travel Requirements: 60%
Number of Direct Reports: 4+
But number of direct reports is not schedule; maybe better to put under About the role or Responsibilities. However we have no other heading for team size. Could we add a section "Team"? Not allowed. So we could include direct reports in About the role paragraph. Let's incorporate that into About the role: mention that the role oversees a team of 4+ direct reports and requires 60% travel. Thus we can drop Schedule heading and instead include travel and direct reports in About the role or Responsibilities. But the instruction says include a section ONLY when the posting has real, specific content for it — never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text. Travel and direct reports are specific content. So we could have a Schedule section for travel, and maybe a separate section for "Team" not allowed. So we could put direct reports under About the role. Thus:About the role
The Director of Automation and Control Systems is responsible for oversight and guidance of all functions of the Automation & Controls team collaborating closely with engineering to foster a culture of continuous innovation and improvement. This position will provide strategic input to the capital planning process and foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment with GAF's innovation and manufacturing optimization initiatives. While at the same time driving continuous operational support to the production facilities. The role oversees a team of 4+ direct reports and requires approximately 60% travel.
Now we have covered travel and direct reports. Now we need to ensure we didn't miss any substantive info: The "Dimensions Number of Direct Reports: 4+" we incorporated. Travel Requirements: 60% we incorporated. Check if any other details: "Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications." We included in Pay. Check if any other details: "Qualifications Preferred Budget Responsibility: yes" we included. Check if any other details: "Working knowledge of: Computer assisted drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools" we included as skills. Check if any other details: "Essential Duties" we captured. Check if any other details: "Job Summary" we captured. Check if any other details: "We are GAF..." boilerplate removed. Check if any other details: "How We Protect What Matters Most:" we
- each item.
We need to ensure we don't add extra sections like "About the role" if we don't have content; we do have job summary.
