Director, Athletics Ticket Sales
About the Role
The Director of Athletics Ticket Sales will work directly with the Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Sales & Service to develop and implement comprehensive sales plans to drive revenue for Tulane Athletics. This role oversees daily ticket office operations, manages the ticket sales staff, and collaborates with multiple departments, including marketing, development, sponsorships, and creative services, to increase ticket sales, fundraising, and ancillary revenue.
Responsibilities
- Increase new business revenue (50%):
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales plans using existing and new strategies for all five ticketed sports.
- Maintain a personal client base of current and prospective ticket buyers and priority seating donors.
- Maximize outreach to local businesses and community members to drive new sales.
- Collaborate with marketing and development teams to identify and target new potential ticket buyers and donors.
- Execute lead generation campaigns and utilize Ticket Operations-created lead lists.
- Work with the development team to increase Green Wave Club membership and annual fund donations.
- Manage sales team efforts (25%):
- Supervise, mentor, and manage an outbound sales team (phone, email, in-person) for season, group, and other ticket packages.
- Oversee strategies to maximize sales and renewals, emphasizing new transactions.
- Collaborate with external staff to execute sales plans.
- Maintain and update databases for priority seating donors and ticket holders.
- Grow fan base (10%):
- Develop and execute a community outreach and grassroots sales plan for the Greater New Orleans area.
- Collaborate with ticket operations and marketing teams to cultivate relationships with community organizations for group sales.
- Attend community events to acquire new prospective ticket buyers.
- Manage and organize sales operations (10%):
- Assist with gameday operations, including stadium/arena setup, sales operations, and customer service.
- Coordinate and execute gameday experiences for ticket holders and groups.
- Organize internal sales databases using Salesforce, Paciolan, and group pipelines.
- Other duties (5%):
- Perform additional duties as requested or required.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field and 3 years of sales experience, or
- High School Diploma/Equivalent and 9 years of sales experience.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Extensive experience developing and implementing sales strategies to drive revenue.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with fans, administrators, businesses, and community members.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Strong time management and analytical skills for data-driven decisions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ticketing platforms, and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends during games and special events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Sales experience at the NCAA Division-I level.
- Experience using Paciolan and Salesforce.
Compliance
Ensures all Department of Athletics and University activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities include attending compliance seminars, seeking interpretations from compliance staff, reporting potential violations, completing required compliance paperwork, and monitoring program activities for adherence to applicable rules.
