About the Role
A national multifamily operator is seeking a Director or Associate Director to provide senior oversight of operations across its Midwest and Southwest portfolio. This executive-level role is ideal for someone with extensive experience running operations at scale, comfortable engaging with clients, analyzing financial performance across multiple regions, and managing distressed or special-situation assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior operational oversight across a multi-state multifamily portfolio.
- Supervise, support, and influence a team of Regional Managers across the territory.
- Run point on weekly leadership meetings, ensuring agendas are prepared and distributed on time.
- Serve as the strategic point of contact and partner on every client call.
- Take direct oversight of properties in receivership or REO status when they enter the portfolio.
- Review portfolio-wide financial performance and hold regions accountable to plan.
- Partner with ownership and the Senior Managing Director on portfolio strategy and reporting.
- Step into underperforming markets or assets to diagnose issues and drive turnaround.
- Represent the company externally with clients, lenders, and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years of multifamily property management experience, including senior/director-level oversight of multiple regions or markets.
- Direct experience with properties in receivership and/or REO status.
- Comfortable running client relationships at a senior level, including live client calls.
- Proven ability to lead and develop Regional Managers, not just review their reports.
- Strong financial and operational command across a large, multi-state portfolio.
- Familiarity with Yardi and RentCafe (Voyager8 experience a strong plus).
- Organized, disciplined operator—meetings run on time, agendas are distributed, and follow-through is consistent.
- Comfortable traveling across a multi-state territory as needed.
- Executive presence and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay
$175,000–$190,000+/year, plus eligibility for a discretionary executive bonus.
