Responsibilities
- Serve as operational attorney for a key operating group of DaVita.
- Report to a Group General Counsel, providing advice and counsel on a wide variety of corporate and commercial issues.
- Provide legal counsel on health-care business, corporate, and commercial matters.
- Oversee legal oversight for business transactions and assist in the structure and negotiation of contracts.
- Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate contracts, including Medical Director Agreements, Operating Agreements, and other related agreements.
- Aid in the resolution of business and lease disputes, and manage litigation if necessary.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the company's business, people, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors to provide legal advice, structures, and strategies.
- Build rapport and work relationships with business managers to encourage proactive use of in-house legal counsel.
- Assist with process improvement and best practices for legal operations.
Requirements
- J.D. degree and a minimum of ten years of legal experience in operations, corporate law, and health care law.
- State bar passage and good standing.
- Candidates must have in-house and/or law firm experience representing business clients.
- Experience with relevant health care compliance issues (Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark, HIPAA).
- Understanding of Medicare certification, provider conditions, and state licensing matters is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Pay
The salary range for the role is $129,000.00 - $205,000.00/year. Location-specific minimum wage details can be found here: DaVita.jobs/WageRates. Compensation will depend on a number of factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
