Director & Assistant General Counsel, Commercial

For our client, we are seeking a Director & Assistant General Counsel, Commercial to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. This leader will oversee a commercial legal function that supports complex technology transactions and enables strategic business initiatives. The role will guide a team of legal professionals, shape negotiation strategy, and serve as a key advisor on high-impact legal decisions. It will also partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes, strengthen support, and drive operational efficiency. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $210,161 – $432,684 annually Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of legal professionals supporting complex commercial transactions Manage hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance for the legal team Set team priorities to improve productivity and stakeholder support Act as an escalation point for complex legal issues and make timely decisions Guide negotiation strategies for technology agreements, including cloud and data privacy matters Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives Create scalable processes and frameworks to improve operational efficiency Qualifications JD with 10+ years of legal experience, with a focus on complex SaaS and cloud agreements At least 2 years of in-house experience in a technology company preferred Proven people management skills, including coaching and performance management Extensive experience negotiating technology supplier agreements, particularly in cloud and data privacy Strong judgment in making risk-based decisions in fast-paced environments Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management and presenting solutions Demonstrated ability to drive results and improve team operations Benefits Flexible work model with minimal in-office requirements Commitment to an equitable and inclusive workplace culture Opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting strategic business initiatives Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
