Director, Application Security

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Application Security to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space. This leader will shape the security strategy for modern software systems, with a strong focus on cloud-native architectures, APIs, and AI-enabled environments. The role will partner closely with engineering and product teams to embed security earlier in the development lifecycle while improving automation, scale, and technical rigor. You will also lead and mentor a security team, define operating models, and drive practical outcomes that strengthen resilience across CI/CD and AI/ML pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive an AI-native Application Security vision and roadmap
• Design the operating model for agentic Application Security, including security copilots and policy-enforcing agents
• Act as a hands-on technical leader shaping secure architectures
• Build and mentor a modern Application Security team focused on leverage and automation
• Evolve threat modeling into continuous, system-aware analysis
• Embed automated security reasoning into CI/CD and AI/ML pipelines
• Lead AI-specific adversarial testing, including prompt injection, model abuse, and data leakage

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years in AppSec, DevSecOps, or secure software development
• Strong knowledge of OWASP, cloud-native systems, and API security
• Familiarity with AI/ML security risks
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $275,000 – $315,000 annually
