The School shapes the next generation of performers, creators, scholars, and educators who lead the future of music locally, nationally, and globally. It empowers students to develop their artistic voice, intellectual curiosity, and professional skills through academic rigor, innovative artistry, inclusive excellence, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Guide the School in shaping an environment that prepares students to thrive as artists, educators, creators, scholars, and cultural leaders in a rapidly evolving musical landscape.
• Develop a shared vision for the School, engaging each of its many constituencies to understand and identify shared values, goals, and needs.
• Honor the School's storied history while innovating its approach and offerings, adapting to changing artistic, cultural, technological, and financial contexts.
• Leverage the School's position within a multi-disciplinary arts college and a major public research university to lead the way with innovative, cross-disciplinary programs.
• Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional faculty and staff, recognizing the genuine breadth of their work and diverse needs across disciplines, practices, and professions.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Music or a related field, along with:

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in higher education, preferably in a music school setting.
• Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic plans.
• Experience in fundraising and development.
• Strong administrative and managerial skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate faculty, staff, and students.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The Director will work a standard full-time schedule, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments as needed.
