About the role
MRIGlobal is seeking an experienced Director Accounting-Controller to lead the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions and serve as a key financial leader. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, the Director Accounting-Controller oversees the Accounting Department, providing technical expertise, financial insight, and leadership to support MRIGlobal's financial strength and stability. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting leader with deep technical knowledge, sound business judgment, a strategic perspective, and experience in government contracting or similarly regulated environments.
The successful candidate will lead a significant accounting function, strengthen financial processes and controls, partner with leaders across the organization, and ensure the integrity and reliability of MRIGlobal's financial information. The position manages five direct reports and 14 indirect staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements, particularly those associated with government contracting and federally funded work.
- Support internal and external auditors throughout the annual audit process.
- Provide financial analysis, insight, and recommendations to help senior leadership make informed business decisions.
- Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and promote compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive risk management.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with department leaders, developing accurate financial plans and monitoring budget performance.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Accounting team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Evaluate and continuously improve accounting and financial processes to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure the organization meets its financial obligations.
- Implement effective treasury management practices and work with tax advisors to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 15 years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting, controller, or financial management role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with government contractor accounting, including FAR, CAS, Uniform Guidance, indirect cost rates, incurred cost submissions, and audit support.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, financial reporting tools, and accounting system modernization initiatives.
- CPA designation required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Pay
Pay Range: $157,000 - $196,000. The salary range is intended as a general guideline and is not a guaranteed offer, as compensation depends on various factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
