Accountabilities
- Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting while maintaining high standards of compliance and operational efficiency.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including revenue recognition, accounts payable activities, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- Establish cross-functional processes, training programs, and backup procedures to ensure business continuity and operational resilience.
- Identify and implement technology enhancements and process improvements to optimize accounting workflows and increase team efficiency.
- Support annual audit activities and coordinate the preparation of required tax filings, including IRS Form 990 reporting.
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial policies, internal controls, and compliance procedures to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
- Serve as a key financial partner across the organization, collaborating with stakeholders to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degree, CPA, or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with nonprofit accounting experience considered an advantage.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, audit processes, and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience using accounting systems; familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Prioritized ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience collaborating across various organizational levels.
