Director, Accounting and Financial Advisory Services

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Accounting and Financial Advisory Services to join the team of a leader in the Legal & Accounting space. This role will lead senior-level advisory work for clients navigating complex accounting matters, with a strong focus on technical reporting issues and strategic guidance. The director will partner closely with executive stakeholders to shape accounting policy decisions, support high-stakes engagements, and help strengthen financial reporting outcomes. The position also includes driving thought leadership on evolving regulatory standards and mentoring teams in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Location: New York City, NY - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Pay

Compensation: $215,950 – $409,420 annually

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior advisor to clients with technical expertise in accounting.
• Lead advisory engagements on topics such as consolidations and revenue recognition.
• Advise clients on accounting policy development and financial restatements.
• Build relationships with CFOs, Controllers, and Audit Committees.
• Drive thought leadership on evolving FASB and SEC guidance.
• Stay current on regulatory developments and emerging technologies in financial reporting.
• Mentor high-performing teams and foster innovation and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field; Master's preferred.
• CPA required; CFA or other certifications are a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting advisory, preferably with Big 4 or top-tier consulting firms.
• Proven experience leading complex engagements and managing senior client relationships.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to quality and confidentiality.
