Directional Drill Operator

About the Role

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is seeking skilled Directional Drill Operators local to the Samoa, CA area. This position reports to the Construction Manager and offers an opportunity to join a strong, collaborative team at an early stage of growth, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the continued expansion of GRC.

Responsibilities

• Position consists of general heavy equipment operation for construction
• Drilling equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground construction or utilities, in a safe and effective manner
• Safely operates drill equipment on the job site which may include but is not limited to: Directional Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment / Haul Water), Vacuum Truck/Trailer
• Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the job site
• Will develop and maintain a boring schedule
• Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
• Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
• Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
• May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
• Ability to follow instructions

Required Qualifications

• Directional Drill Operating: 1 year experience
• CDL A
• A valid driver's license is required for most positions
• On-call and weekend availability

Preferred Qualifications

• Falcon F5 experience preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Understanding of basic utility construction processes and terminology a plus

Pay

Hourly Range: $25 - $33 per hour, based on experience

Schedule

Day Shift, Monday - Friday & Night Shift, Sunday - Thursday

Travel Requirements: 100%
