Responsibilities
- Advance client’s decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities.
- Facilitate the client’s inclusion in positive community experiences.
- Promote independence in daily activities yet be mindful of client’s intellectual and physical disabilities and assist with meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming and dressing, as assigned.
- Maintain current knowledge of client’s needs.
- Implement individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person.
- Maintain positive communications and relationships with his/her supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved members offamilies, Regional Center, D.O.R. and other individuals in the community.
- Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.
- Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.
- Provide positive advocacy when the individual’s preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked.
- Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.
- Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Certification in an approved First-Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire.
- Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver’s license.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- The ability to utilize a mobile smart device (i.e. cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete certain essential job tasks.
- Able to travel within and throughout the counties in which services are provided a minimum of 75% of the time.
- Able to work a schedule as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs, however, no holiday or overtime may be worked without the prior approval of the Direct Support Professional's supervisor.
