Direct Support Professional Senior (Intermittent/On-Call) - Behavior Modification Assistant
Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) operates a highly specialized behavioral health care system serving individuals with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, and other complex needs. This includes psychiatric hospitals, inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities, dental clinics, group homes, vocational sites, and sex offender treatment programs.
About the role
As a Direct Support Professional Senior, you will support individuals in short- and long-term housing programs who may have intellectual disabilities, mental illness, brain injury, and other emotional, behavioral, or medical complexities. Your work will focus on helping these individuals achieve their highest quality of life and personal growth.
This is an intermittent/on-call position with shifts available during days, rotating day/evening combinations, or overnights. Shift differential pay is offered for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The position is based in Fergus Falls, MN, and may require travel to transport and accompany individuals to medical appointments, community outings, recreational activities, and spiritual events.
Responsibilities
- Assist in assessing individuals' needs by performing direct care duties.
- Develop and implement residential and habilitation support plans with specific goals and methods.
- Evaluate and document outcomes, maintain or modify plans as needed, and perform related work.
- Respond therapeutically to individuals with challenging behaviors using de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports.
- Collect and summarize data to document program delivery through observation, charting, and measurement.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses.
- Experience with verbal de-escalation strategies and working with individuals who exhibit aggressive behaviors.
- Clear communication skills to understand and convey complex services to community members, employers, and teams.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform all physical/essential job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working effectively with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Formal training, certification, or education in related fields (e.g., CNA, PCA, Child Development, First Aid, CPR).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience in a group home, nursing home, assisted living, or similar setting.
Pay
$24.54 - $31.43 per hour.
