Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Learns about the person’s wants, needs, and desires.
  • Learns about the person’s spirituality, social history and life experiences.
  • Supports each person to direct their own services, achieve their goals and dreams, and remove barriers.
  • Ensures each person within the department has all of his/her basic assurances met.
  • Attends program training and accurately implements all OSP/PCSP programs.
  • Documents in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supported.
  • Learns about people’s vocational, community and social interests.
  • Affirms people’s connection to their natural supports.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and has access to a vehicle.
  • Learns about the best possible health needs for the person you are supporting.
  • Supports people to become involved in their personal health needs.
  • Administers medications and completes treatments according to the Medication Administration Record.
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment.
  • Supports people to look their best by providing assistance in areas of hygiene, grooming, and attire.
  • Serves as a role model and mentor for all DSPs in the department.
  • Trains staff and completes observations to ensure the highest quality of services are being provided.
  • Coaches in the moment, documents performance in the employee log, and reports concerns to the manager.
  • Maintains staffing schedules and ensures active supports are provided.
  • Assures department’s petty cash and procurement (P) card are used appropriately.
  • Aids in financial expenditures/budgets for people supported.
  • Aids people supported to pay their bills and keep an accurate record on all financial spending ledgers.
  • Aids people supported to learn about his/her personal finances including money management and budgeting.

Job Requirements

  • Required High School or equivalent diploma.
  • Driver's License: ND, upon hire and Auto Insurance, upon hire.
  • PREFERRED: One year of work experience.
