Job Summary

Empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, high-quality lives through direct care and dedicated support.

Responsibilities

  • Learns about the person’s wants, needs, and desires
  • Learns about the person’s spirituality, social history and life experiences
  • Achieves each person’s goals and dreams
  • Removes barriers that hinder the accomplishment of the person’s goals and dreams
  • Ensures each person within the department has all of his/her basic assurances met
  • Attends program training and accurately implements all OSP/PCSP programs
  • Completes assessments as requested
  • Documents in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supported
  • Learns about people’s vocational, community and social interests
  • Supports people to remain connected to their natural supports
  • Supports people to be active members of the community
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and has access to a vehicle
  • Learns about the best possible health needs
  • Supports people to become involved in their personal health needs
  • Administers medications and completes treatments according to the Medication Administration Record
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment
  • Learns about nutritional and healthy lifestyle recommendations
  • Supports people to look their best
  • Serves as a role model and mentor for all DSPs in the department
  • Trains staff and completes observations to ensure the highest quality of services are being provided
  • Coaches in the moment, documents performance in the employee log and reports concerns to the manager
  • Makes sure staffing schedules are monitored and active supports are provided
  • Assures department’s petty cash and procurement (P) card are used appropriately
  • Assists with financial expenditures/budgets for people supported
  • Assists people supported to pay their bills and keep an accurate record on all financial spending ledgers
  • Assists people supported to learn about his/her personal finances

Requirements

  • Required High School or equivalent diploma
  • Driver's License: ND, upon hire and Auto Insurance, upon hire
