Job Summary
Empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, high-quality lives through direct care and dedicated support.
Responsibilities
- Learns about the person’s wants, needs, and desires
- Learns about the person’s spirituality, social history and life experiences
- Achieves each person’s goals and dreams
- Removes barriers that hinder the accomplishment of the person’s goals and dreams
- Ensures each person within the department has all of his/her basic assurances met
- Attends program training and accurately implements all OSP/PCSP programs
- Completes assessments as requested
- Documents in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supported
- Learns about people’s vocational, community and social interests
- Supports people to remain connected to their natural supports
- Supports people to be active members of the community
- Maintains a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and has access to a vehicle
- Learns about the best possible health needs
- Supports people to become involved in their personal health needs
- Administers medications and completes treatments according to the Medication Administration Record
- Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification
- Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment
- Learns about nutritional and healthy lifestyle recommendations
- Supports people to look their best
- Serves as a role model and mentor for all DSPs in the department
- Trains staff and completes observations to ensure the highest quality of services are being provided
- Coaches in the moment, documents performance in the employee log and reports concerns to the manager
- Makes sure staffing schedules are monitored and active supports are provided
- Assures department’s petty cash and procurement (P) card are used appropriately
- Assists with financial expenditures/budgets for people supported
- Assists people supported to pay their bills and keep an accurate record on all financial spending ledgers
- Assists people supported to learn about his/her personal finances
Requirements
- Required High School or equivalent diploma
- Driver's License: ND, upon hire and Auto Insurance, upon hire
