Responsibilities

  • Support and teach individuals varying levels of personal care, including bathing, toileting, teeth brushing, etc.
  • Aid and teach individuals household maintenance, meal prep, and shopping.
  • Assist individuals in assuming increasing control and responsibility over their daily lives.
  • Accompany individuals on appointments as needed.
  • Administer medications or support self-medication in accordance with residential guidelines.
  • Follow routines of individuals, including Behavior Support Plans, personal care, Physical Therapy, etc.
  • Commit to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and lives.
  • Show varied interests and personal connections in the local community.
  • Display a proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior in work, volunteer, or school settings.
  • Work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated member of the team.
  • Receive paid 5-day New Employee Orientation and training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP).
  • Receive program-specific training at the work site.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • A high school diploma, GED, or HiSET.
  • One to three years of related experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record.

Pay

Starting pay is $20.50/hour, with additional differentials based on location and qualifications. Cape-based programs offer a $1/hour differential. Martha’s Vineyard programs offer a $4/hour differential, except the Franklin Street program, which offers $3/hour. An additional $1/hour differential is available for employees with active MAP certification, except at non-Franklin Street programs on Martha’s Vineyard. All asleep hours are paid at a flat rate of $17.50/hour.
