Direct Support Professional (DSP) swing shift

About the role

Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities-including those who may experience complex or challenging behaviors-using a compassionate, person-centered approach that promotes dignity, respect, and choice.

Responsibilities

• Connect with individuals you support to build trust and understand their needs
• Aid in daily living skills such as cooking, personal care, and household tasks
• Provide positive behavior support using strategies learned during training
• Create a calm, supportive environment while responding to changing needs
• Encourage independence, choice, and personal goals
• Support individuals in the community (walks, shopping, activities, outings)

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and ability to assist with daily activities, including mobility support
• Basic understanding or willingness to learn about supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with behavioral challenges

Qualifications

• Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to support others
• A commitment to treating all individuals with dignity and respect
• Willingness to learn and apply person-centered and behavior support strategies (training provided)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to stay calm, flexible, and solution-focused in dynamic situations
