$1,000.00 Sign-On Bonus Available! Eligible candidates will receive the sign-on bonus distributed after three, six, nine, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an entry-level direct support professional under the direct supervision of the Direct Support Professional III.
  • Ensures health and safety of each consumer while following the prescribed behavior support plan (BSP), dining protocol, lifting protocol, and training and service programs as outlined in their individual support plan.
  • Works overtime as an essential employee to ensure consumer safety and supervision, including during various activities and hazardous weather conditions.
  • Reports to duty as outlined in policy and procedures and assumes accountability for assigned individual(s).
  • Follows sound professional techniques while providing direct, hands-on individual care to all consumers as needed, in accordance with Agency and Office guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills.
  • Transports and monitors consumers to and from off-campus appointments, programs, and activities.
  • Implements training and service programs as outlined in the individual support plan, assists with daily activities, and engages consumers in group activities in accordance with ICF-IID active treatment standards.
  • Completes timely and accurate data collection and/or assessments in keeping with the individual support plan.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with Agency and Office policies and procedures.
  • Provides input and engages as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participates in team meetings and scheduled staff meetings as required.
  • Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately per Agency and Office policies and procedures.
  • Ensures a safe, orderly, neat, and clean environment for all consumers.
  • Follows all Agency and Office policies and procedures and may be required to perform additional duties as needed.

Positions are located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) in Florence, SC, serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Physical abilities including lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running.
  • Ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments for certain periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative abilities and general knowledge of intellectual disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes (Electronic Documentation System).
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices.

Schedule

  • 1st shift: 6:45 am - 3:15 pm
  • 2nd shift: 2:45 pm - 11:15 pm
  • 3rd shift: 10:45 pm - 7:15 am

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts. In accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan, employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters, including hazardous weather.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including:

  • South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening.
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening.
  • South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record check.
  • Review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.

Immunization requirements: Tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to employment. Documentation of immunity or immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella, and Hepatitis B is required for all new healthcare provider employees.
