Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and activities with dignity and respect in alignment with Individual Support Plans (ISP).
• Assist with personal care needs including medication administration, bathing, dressing, toileting and housekeeping.
• Prepare and serve meals based on individual diets and preferences.
• Schedule and transport individuals to medical appointments, outings and errands.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with medical orders, state regulations, abuse reporting requirements, court orders and Wellspring policies.
• Ensure the residence remains compliant with all safety protocols.
• Provide wound care as needed.
• Contribute to the development and updates of individual support plans by sharing observations and insights.
• Purchase food and supplies as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy living environment.
• Manage and update a master calendar of appointments, activities and meetings.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in required trainings and continuing education.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (required).
• A valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
• A willingness / ability to transport clients as needed (required).
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities (preferred).
• Experience providing in-home or personal care support (preferred).
• CNA licensure (preferred - not required).
• A valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
• Able to maintain documentation, follow safety protocols and support individuals with dignity and respect.
