Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support in the individual’s home and community
• Aid with activities of daily living while encouraging independence
• Offer verbal or physical prompts when necessary
• Support personal goals, routines, and independent living skills
• Assist with meal planning, cooking, shopping, and light housekeeping
• Encourage participation in recreational, social, and community activities
• Aid with transportation to activities, appointments, or employment when authorized
• Follow the individual’s support plan and document services provided
• Communicate professionally with care coordinators and authorized family members
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure client health and safety

Requirements

• Active Florida CNA license or completion of at least 40 hours of Florida Home Health Aide training
• Valid government-issued identification
• Ability to follow individual support plans and complete required documentation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A dependable, patient, compassionate, and professional approach
• Able to work independently while following established care and safety requirements
