Direct Support Professional / DSP

About the role

Easterseals PORT Health empowers individuals and strengthens communities through our mission. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll play a crucial role in supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) by helping them complete daily tasks and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Help with personal care including bathing, dressing, toiletry, and changing diapers.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

Requirements

• Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available.
• Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge.
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or ability to learn.
• Reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Qualifications

• Entry-level, on-the-job training is provided.
