DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) - ADULT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

Brightway Living & Learning is a premier non‑profit provider of human services on Long Island, offering educational, residential, day habilitation, and vocational programs. With a 65‑year legacy as the Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI), Brightway supports over 1,600 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.

About the role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will support individuals with disabilities in daily living activities, foster independence, promote well‑being, and help them connect with their communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and community outings.
• Foster independence by helping individuals develop life skills and make choices.
• Promote social inclusion by supporting participation in community activities.
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating empathy and patience.
• Collaborate effectively with a supportive team of DSPs, supervisors, and families.

Requirements

• Valid NYS driver’s license held for at least 18 months with a clean driving history.
• Successful completion of Brightway Living and Learning Transportation Orientation.

Pay

Hourly rate $21.00 – $23.10. New hires who do not meet the driver’s‑license criteria will start at $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

• Thursday & Friday: 9:30 p.m. – 7 a.m. (37 hours)
• Saturday: 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. (37 hours)
• Monday, Thursday & Friday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. / 2:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Sunday: 10 p.m. – 10 p.m. (40 hours)
• Wednesday & Thursday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. / 2:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Sunday: 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. (24 hours)
• Tuesday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. / 2:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Saturday: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. (20 hours)
